Tug and Work Boat Coolers

The engine room of a tug or work boat will have several coolers that are used to cool oil for the engines, gear boxes and hydraulic systems.

Oil Coolers

Some manufacturers built their tugs and work boats with the oil coolers that have fixed tube sheets, such as those illustrated below. The tube bundle can’t be removed for cleaning, so customers often treat this style as a “disposable” cooler.

The other style of oil cooler has a removable tube bundle, like the one shown below. The tube bundle and the water heads can be cleaned and repaired, so the cooler can be put back in service.
